Fall?! It feels like Winter!! And a Fall Finish!

It's been nearly eight months since I posted on here. I have been busy and instead of making excuses I will catch you up a little. We bought a boat and had a lot of fun this summer on the lake relaxing. We took the grand kids fishing.

DH and our GS fishing - such fun!

GD learning to put worms on a hook!

Sunset from the boat!  Ahhhhhh, nice!

We took vacation and took the boat with us, too. Enjoyed seeing another lake from the water instead of just the shoreline. It was fun to just go around the lake relaxing. My DH enjoys being Captain of the boat (driving). I, on the other hand, love to lay back, relax and enjoy the scenery. We had a great vacation and a fun summer on the boat!

Fall came and now the boat and the RV have all been winterized and although we live in the South, you wouldn't know it. This morning it was in the upper 20's. Ouch!  Two days ago I was wearing a sleeveless shirt outside. Now I'm wearing long sleeves and a heavy jacket. I can handle some cold but not quite that fast. Yuck, yuck, yuck!

I have a finish to show you. I'm so glad this is finally done. I first started on it sometime before October 1st, 2010. Yes, you read that right. I know this because I write about it in this post A Very Busy Friday and again on the 22nd of that month when I had trouble with my sewing machine. The pattern for this table runner comes from Judi Madsen of Green Fairy Quilts and is called Pumpkin Table Runner. Click the name for the pattern and tutorial. Also, check out her site she does amazing Longarm quilting. She is blessed with a gift!

I added a Faux Piped Binding to my Pumpkin Table Runner. I found the tutorial for the Faux Piped Binding at TLC Stitches. Trisha has a wonderful .pdf you can download and save for future reference. I love the look plus it is sewn on completely by machine. You gotta love that!  Now don't look too close I have some mistakes but I decided that I am a work in progress and so is my FMQ quilting! So, I have to learn to put up with some imperfections and eventually I will get better at it.

I love the colors and it will grace our table for Thanksgiving.

I have been making these key fobs again.
They are fun and colorful and make great gifts.

I love this handmade batik piece my Dad made.
Isn't it nice. Looks good against my quilt room wall.

Well, I'd better post this before another eight months goes by. Just kidding!

Happy piecing!
Karen

  1. How fun is this? I love it! You did a beautiful job on the runner. Congrats on the finish. I know I have projects that aren't finished from six years ago - so I totally get the long time it takes. I wish you all the best! Thanks for sharing!
